Mesotrione is a preemergent annual weed control that prevents the emergence of crabgrass seedlings and controls broadleaf weeds without harming desirable turf grasses. Turfgrass and lawns may be seeded and weeds controlled at the same time in comparison to other pre-emergent weed controls like prodiamine. Apply mesotrione with fertilizer as the last step in the planting process. The 21% nitrogen, 22% phosphorous, and 4% potassium with feed the new and current grass to keep it strong and full. Mesotrione may reduce the density of fine fescue seedlings. Mesotrione can be used on grass seed blends that contain less than 20% fine fescue grass seed(creeping red, chewings, hard).
