When to Feed

  • Feed in spring and again in late fall at half the spring rate
  • Never apply to frozen soils

Application Rates

  • Trees: 1 lb. per inch of trunk diameter; triple the quantity for trunks 3 inches or larger
  • Shrubs: 1 cup per foot of drip line diameter; double the quantity if drip line diameter is 3 feet or larger
  • New Beds: Mix 10 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. and incorporate into the top 4 to 5 inches of soil
  • Established Beds: Apply 5 lbs. per 100 sq. ft.
  • Potted Plants (New): Mix 2 cups per cubic foot of soil (1.5 tbsp. per quart)
  • Potted Plants (Established): Sprinkle 1 tsp. per 3 inches of pot diameter along the outer edge of the pot and water thoroughly

How to Apply

  • Shrubs: Sprinkle the recommended amount around the drip line and water thoroughly. If mulched, temporarily remove mulch or double the rate on top of the mulch
  • Trees: Dig 3-inch wide holes around the drip line, 12 to 18 inches deep and 2 to 3 feet apart. Divide Evergreen-tone evenly into holes, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly
